Christian Friends of Israel - U.K.

Christian Friends of Israel–U.K. is a vibrant ministry that provides published materials and teaching to a growing constituency in the United Kingdom and beyond. The focus of the ministry is to enlist both moral and practical support for the nation of Israel and for the security of the international Jewish community. The ministry also offers educational materials on the Jewish roots of Christian faith.

Derek C. White, a longtime supporter of Israel, is U.K. director for Christian Friends of Israel. Coming from a background of research with British Petroleum, he became interested in Israel after a visit to the land. Since that time he has made over 50 visits to Israel, heading teaching and sight-seeing tours that have greatly benefited the many people who have accompanied him.

Derek has helped to mold CFI-UK into an efficient operation that makes a wide-ranging impact. In an environment steeped in antinomianism and supersessionist teaching, he has fought with great determination to dispel anti-Semitism and to enlist Christian support for Israel.

CFI-UK works in close concert with Christian Friends of Israel headquartered in Jerusalem and provides significant support for the many humanitarian projects that the parent organization promotes, funds, and manages in the nation of Israel.

A great concentration of effort has been devoted to assisting those who have emigrated from the former Soviet Union to Israel in getting settled in their land. Many came to Israel with nothing but the proverbial "shirt on their backs." The need for assistance is great, and CFI makes every effort to respond with love and care to the need.

One of CFI-UK’s special projects is a teaching program called Kesher, the Hebrew term for "roots." The CFI-UK staff is particularly efficient in providing down-to-earth instruction that helps to educate people who have not been aware of the church’s Jewish connection or the impact of the Jewish people upon the world. They understand that if the church is to enlist support for Israel, Christians must understand that their faith is rooted in the soil of Second Temple Judaism, the faith of Jesus and the apostles.

CFI-UK conducts special conferences in different parts of the United Kingdom aimed at attracting the uninitiated to hear the dynamic truths about the Church/Israel connection both in history and in the present day. These conferences underscore the importance to the church as well as to Israel for loving support to be manifested towards God’s ancient people by Christians around the world. God’s promise to Abraham is clearly underlined and promoted: "I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you."

CFI-UK has one of the best resource catalogues available anywhere for high quality books, teaching tapes, and other materials which are invaluable aids to discovering, evaluating, and appreciating the church’s Hebrew foundations. The staff of CFI-UK has assembled a wonderful collection of resources that can minister to people of any background and help them grow in understanding of these vital truths.

Recently, due to the growth of the work, CFI-UK simply ran out of space in its office in outer London (Teddington). Because of the exorbitant cost of real estate in Greater London, the staff decided to look on the south coast of England, where they were led to a beautiful one-hundred year old detached Victorian four-story building at a very moderate cost.
